Native Meadows and Prairies

Meadows are beautiful, highly dynamic habitats that are constantly changing.  These habitats found east of the Mississippi within our rural, urban and suburban landscapes are the result of land clearing for agriculture or industry then being abandoned.

Prairies differ from meadows in that they are more stable, meadows tend to convert to forest with time.  Prairies are filled with a higher percentage of grasses and sedges than wildflowers.

By creating a meadow or prairie you are providing a very bio-diverse habit not only for our native pollinators but for numerous other wildlife species that depend not only on the pollen and nectar but the seeds that are produced as well.

The Sunflower Farm has designed and installed many different types of prairies in and around the Greater Cincinnati area, let us help design the perfect size and type prairie for your home or business.
